Waste Management
Our Green Start program helps your nonprofit organization control its waste stream. Waste reduction keeps landfill in check and decreases the spread of harmful toxins from garbage. Back in 2002, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors mandated a goal of 75% waste diversion for all of San Francisco by the year 2010 and zero waste by 2020.
Reduce Consumption
The Green Start program helps your nonprofit to incrementally reduce the amount of resources you need to accomplish your mission. Reduction varies with each client and their specific work environment.
We help you identify where you might do more with less to reduce garbage from your OFFICE and KITCHEN.
Reuse
Connect the Dots helps you get more mileage out of supplies before you discard them. Through better office practices, we help you increase your organization’s resourcefulness and creativity.
Recycle and Compost
For the resources that you do use, let's recycle and compost them! This increases the “diversion rate” of your organization (waste diverted from landfill).
We help you establish a recycling and composting system manageable by the janitorial staff and usable by everyone. The Green Start program partners with your waste service provider to bring:
- Onsite assessment of your current garbage output
- Recommendations for new services to increase your diversion rate
- Signs to post in your facility as constant reminders to divert waste
- Training sessions to familiarize your organization with recycling and composting
